Grump Candidates 2012 |
Fred was raised near Denver where he attended Jerrerson #2 school and graduated from Denver High School.He began working at Rath Packing out of high school and wanted to statrt farming. He farmed a few years and continued working at rath for 32 years until they colsed. He then worked for L A Becker Excavating. Fred is a charter member of the PTOS tractor club and the Waterloo sister city Association. He is also a member of St. Paul Lutheran church. He enjoys mowing lawn, attending auctions,and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Travel has been a big enjoyment. Fred and his wife, Sonja have been married for 53 years and have had many oppertunities to travel to various parts of the world. They have been to Germany,Australia and New Zealand. They have three children and five grandchildren. If ellected he will try to be grumpy.
Harriet was born and raised in Waterloo where she graduated from West High school in 1946. She worked part time at Rath Packing in the order writing department. After graduation she also worked at the Waterloo Savings Bank. Harriet met Wilber at a Halloween roller skating pary in October 1946 and were married in June 1947. We farmed near Dunkerton for 3 years and moved to Waterloo. In 1953 they bought a farm 1 mile east 1 and 1/2 miles north of where we farmed for 23 years. Wilber also worked at John Deere's at this time. Our family consisted of eight children, 6 boys and 2 girls, all graduates of Wapsie Valley. They moved to Readlyn in March 1976, where Harriet worked for at the Office and Center Inn for 17 years plus doing thr Des Moines Register route. I have been a Stanley Home products and fuller brush rep. for 23 years. I am a member of Zion Lutheran church where she has served a couple of offices, I am very proud to be a member of this community.
I was born 2 miles east of Klinge, in 1941 I moved a half mile west and attended Immanuel Lutheran school, and graduated from Readlyn High school in 1951. After graduation I worked for the Farmers Co-op for 2 years and in 1953 I moved to Williamsburg and worked for a butter maker. After 3 years I bought a milk route and picked up milk from farmers in Williamsburg. At that time I met my wife, Virginia who was working at a cafe. In 1958 we were married and lived in Sigourney until 1966.In 1966 we moved back to readlyn and went to work for the Co-op, where I retired in 1996. Roland is a member of St. Paul's church,and has been on the school board, a church deacon, a chairmal and a collector.He has 4 children, 11 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. His activities include volunteering at Allen hospital, dancing,playing cards,riding bike, and watching the Cubs. He also enjoys his grand children and great grandchildren, He likes mose about Readlyn is the small town atmosphere.
Pat and her sister were raised in Minneapolis, MN, by her WWII veteran father and kindest mother. In 1964 I graduated from North High and in 1968 graduated from Augsburg College with a degree in teaching. She started teaching in Robbinsdale, MN: and after 42 years retired from teaching from Waverly-Shellrock Junior High. While teaching she was on various committes, volunteered for many activities,and tutored students. In 1977 while teaching at waterloo, I was lucky enough to meet a fellow teacher Steve Wehr and were married later thet year. They have one sone AJ who lives in Albuquerque, NM, who is married with one child and expectind another. Steve and Pat moved to Readlyn in 1999 and Pat continued to teach while working on her Masters degree. She is a member of the Readlyn garden Club, she has assisted judging christmal lights and decorate for various events. She is a Homemaker,Book Club,Novel Knitter and a member of the Wapsie Ridge Ladies Golf club.Probably her biggest volunteering moment was reading the desperation in Verdeen's voice as she told her how hard it is to get another woman to run for Grump.
