Readlyn Community Fund Grant Application Deadline April 20

READLYN, March 26, 2009 - The Readlyn Community Fund is announcing its second annual grant application deadline will be April 20, 2009. Grants may be awarded to projects in the following areas: arts and culture; community affairs and development; education; environmental education and protection; health; historical preservation; and human services.

Completed applications must be postmarked by April 20 to be considered for 2009 funding. Applicants are required to submit a two-page Grant Request form as well as a cover letter, list of board members, financial information, and a copy of the organization’s IRS determination letter. The Grant Request forms and submission information can be downloaded from the Community Foundation’s website at www.cfneia.org/readlyn , or they can be picked up at the Readlyn Library or the Readlyn Telephone Company office. Grants will be awarded in June.

The Readlyn Community Fund is affiliated with the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa, which is a community foundation that meets U.S. National Standards. The main goal of the Readlyn Community Fund is to be an endowment for the community, a resource for a broad range of community needs, and to assist donors in creating a lasting legacy for Readlyn through a variety of giving options. Because of the affiliate partnership with the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa, donors to the Readlyn Community Fund can take advantage of tax deductibility to the greatest possible extent. Donations to permanent endowment funds, like the Readlyn Community Fund, are eligible for Endow Iowa 20% state tax credits.

Representatives from Readlyn serving on the governing committee of the Readlyn Community Fund are: Janet Huebner (Chair), Bob Casterton, Troy Kuethe, Virgil Matthias, Brenda Meyer and Aaron Sauerbrei.

Grant applicants may visit with Carolynn Sween, Community Foundation Program Director, prior to submitting an application. Grant applicants must be a 501(c)(3) designated organization (or equivalent) serving the community of Readlyn in order to be considered for funding.
